Are you struggling at the moment with your emotions?

Have you found yourself in a fog of sadness and having a hard time to see past it?

Know this. It is ok to feel sad from time to time. It does not make you more or any less than anyone else. It just makes you, you. This is your journey so you walk it anyway you feel is right for you.

Honour your emotions. Feel your feelings. You don’t always have to be a ball of sunshine and rainbows. Frankly that can be very exhausting. And exhaustion is the last thing you need right now.

Your journey will never be on the same as someone else’s. We often run into similar obstacles – fear, doubt, self love. When we go though those things that is when we often find our people. The people who become our soul tribe, soul family, spiritual allies that walk with us and support us on this journey.

No one can tell you how to grieve or has the right to tell you how to grieve. Yes people will give you their unsolicited advice but that does not mean you have to take it.

Most people will find it uncomfortable and will try to get you to get over it as quickly as possible to make themselves feel better. Don’t blame them or hold this against them. They simply don’t know better. Let them do them and you do you.

In doing so you find your truth and your way. Our emotions are complex and we don’t have to simplify them if we don’t want to do so. The act of owning one’s emotions is a powerful one and leads to healing one’s emotions.

Cry, scream. Find your own safe way of releasing. Crying is good for the soul. Let it all out. Just be mindful not to stay stuck in that energy for too long.

So you do you my love. You do you.

If you have a friend or family member that is going through a grieving process or is in a state of sadness, just be there for them. That’s all. Be mindful of the language you use as to not deepen the sadness. Telling them to get over it or to move on is not helpful. Not even a little bit.

In any given situation you can choose to react or respond. The choice is always yours.

If you want to help let them know that they are not alone. Let them know that they matter to you. Let them know that you are not going anywhere now or later. Tell them you love them if you do. Let them know that even if you don’t understand what they are going through, you offer them compassion.

Reassure them that they are not going crazy and offer them a hug if it is appropriate.

When you feel sad you can do one of these or all of the following things:

  1. Write yourself a love letter – Tell yourself all the things you love about yourself. And yes there are always things you can find that you love about yourself. Sometimes you just have to dig Little deeper.
  2. Take a nap – Take the time to rest your mind, body and soul
  3. Write down your feelings – Putting it on paper may help navigate the feelings
  4. Be creative – Get your arts and crafts on. Tinker with something. Not ot only will it keep your hands busy but also your mind.
  5. Look at the bigger picture – As cliche as it may sound. This too shall pass. Step back and see the bigger picture.
