The ultimate guide to smart beauty shopping

Do your beauty products expire before you even finish them? Do you want to save money AND your products? Here’s an easy guide for YOU!

We all love Sephora and let’s say a trip to Sephora costs roughly 50$, and that’s some hard earned money so everytime my half-full foundation reaches its expiry date my heart would cry from pain. So, I decided a change was needed and believe me saving money on beauty products ain’t easy!! But here are a few tips and tricks that I learned and follow and that you can try as well.

Make a list

Make a list of the things you want (before your products reach expiry or end) BUT don’t go straight into shopping. Sit on it (not physically ofc) and decide again if you really want that product or not.

Divide the list

Divide the list in two parts. First make a list of the products that will run out around the date of expiry. If the product reaches expiry before it runs out, instead of buying a full-sized product buy a mini-product. Most of the products at Sephora have mini-sizes now. Doing this will result in less money spent and less product wastage. For example: I hardly use foundation or base products so I often buy a travel set that has a mini-foundation, concealer and bronzer and the expiry says 6 months.

Pro tip: You will always find such sets during Christmas and summer season.

Buy mini for testing

Memorize this one! Always buy a mini or ask for a sample if you are interested in a product. This is so much better than buying a full sized product that ends in the trash. I have sensitive skin and I learned it the hard way how important patch testing is.

Do not jump on the bandwagon

Thanks to Instagram Reels and Tiktok, you will see crazy skincare trends everyday. People applying trillion of products at once and naming it skincare. Your skin is your own! What works for someone else may not work for you and you certainly do not need a ten step skin care routine for healthy skin.

Shop conscious!

Always be mindful of what you are shopping and why you are shopping. Know your skin type and don’t go overboard.
